Use Praise not Criticism in Your Internet Marketing Promotion

As I touched on in my last article the way you treat people within your home business online opportunity has a major impact on your efforts to be successful and earn money form home.

In today’s article I am going to explore the concepts of praise and criticism. Of the two it is often far easier to criticise than to praise. However, what is to be gained from criticism?

Nothing but resentment and a wounded pride, none of which will get someone to do as you want. More often than not the person criticised just gets defensive or as Dale Carnegie says, they will probably just justify him or herself and condemn you.  The net result is nothing gained just a prospect lost forever. 

Take for example children. I am a mother of two children aged four and six. I find that I can get them to do as I want far easier by praise than by criticism. Sometimes it can be hard to praise when you are being pushed to your limits, however there is always something that you can find to praise while ignoring the transgressions. You will find that they will quickly forget the bad behaviour as that is not what is getting them attention. They quickly realise that it is their good behaviour that is gaining them the most attention which is ultimately what they crave. 

Adults are just like children and long to be praised and not condemned. How can this be put to use with your home business online opportunity? Well, if you focus on what someone is doing correctly and praise them for this then they will more than likely concentrate on repeating the behaviour they have been praised for, thus allowing you to steer them towards actions that ultimately will be of advantage to your home business online opportunity

My father used to say ‘never take from any man his song’. His view was that everyone has something to say and contribute. You may not agree with everyone but that’s what makes us all unique and keeps life interesting. The secret to success is not in criticising another’s opinion but rather trying to understand it. It is in understanding others that we best figure out how to get what we want from them.

Also Dale Carnegie makes a very relevant point that I particularly like – if you want to change someone, start with yourself. 

None of us are perfect and we can all do with self-improvement. After all if we were perfect – what would we have left to strive for?

My Journey to Personal Growth and Financial Freedom

Hello and welcome to my blog. In this blog I am going to be exploring a number of important areas that frequently get overlooked when trying to earn money form home.

Initially when I began to explore the idea that I could earn money form home online, I signed up as one does for a number of opportunities and newsletters. 

My inbox quickly filled with lots of promises of automatic profits, rather like the plug and play accessories that can be purchased for your Pc. Just set up the system and go to the beach and watch the money roll in!!! 

Well I have to say I was taken in. Who wouldn’t like to make money with no effort? I should have known better.  

Thankfully I came across a genuine home business online opportunity which has steered me in the right direction. A big influence in my decision to join this home business online opportunity was my sponsor’s personal page. I instinctively knew I could trust this person. 

This quickly made me realise that to succeed with any home business online opportunity one has to gain the trust of others. I would have to market myself.  At first I tried not to think about this – I much preferred the ‘automated profits system’.  

Where my original thinking had gone wrong was that I had thought of the internet as being impersonal. However as I gained more knowledge I quickly realised that to earn money form home online involved dealing with people just as much as in a bricks and mortar business.  

I also got from my mentors, in those early days, what I consider very good advice to earn money form home, – ‘always work harder on yourself than you do on your business’. 

To this end I set aside time each week to work on my personal development. This week I am reading ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ by Dale Carnegie. Although it was first published in 1937, it is still as relevant today as it was then.  

It is an invaluable resource on dealing with people and getting them to feel good about themselves. My next article will look at some of the concepts outlined in the book which I have found very helpful.
